Stephenville, Texas UFO incident
One of the most enigmatic UFO cases in modern history, the Stephenville UFO case has made its mark in UFO lore.
On January 8, 2008 at sunset more than 30 residents of this small town spotted what they described as a mile long UFO with intense bright lights flying low and fast over the town. It was spotted by the local constable, Leroy Gateman, a hunter named Rick Sorrells, a pilot called Steve Allen and others.
According to Allen, it was an arch-shaped object which became verticle, split into two objects then disappeared with a burst of fire. So what was the official explanation? It was an illusion caused by two airliners. That explanation came from the Air Force 301st fighter wing in Fort Worth, TX which denied involvement in the incident.
The object was silent according to eyewitnesses. One source claims that it was military jets that the people of Stephenville saw. How can this be when the air force denied involvement? With an estimated speed of 2000 MPH and no sound from the UFO lights it is extremely unlikely that this could have been military jets.
So what was it? Was it military aircraft as some civilian agencies claim? Was it two civilian aircraft as the military claims? As usual the military backtracked and claimed that they were indeed on maneuvers that night.
Much like in Roswell this story does not end without threats toward civilians. Ricky Sorrels, an eyewitness who has gone national with his testimony about the case, reported that he was harassed on the phone by a man identifying himself as a lieutenant colonel, who insisted that he be allowed to come out to the resident's property.
Reporting that black helicopters buzzed his home at all hours, he also claims that at least one intruder was seen on his property. This type of harassment, as many UFO news reports will say, is all too common. The very fact that harassment and intimidation of eyewitnesses frequently accompanies sightings of UFO's is evidence that there is more to this than what the public has been told.
In the Stephenville case, footage of UFO's is lacking, and so we are forced to rely on eyewitnesses for information. In a UFO sightings report such as this however, with more than 30 corroborating witnesses, it is highly likely that something extraordinary happened in this sleepy Texas town.
